Damon Summers embarked on his professional music career in the early 1980s, playing in various bands and developing his skills as a musician. Inspired by the vibrant music scene in London and his love for music since a young age, Damon's passion for songwriting and performing grew stronger.
In 1984, Damon met fellow musician Andy Leeds, and together they formed the first iteration of X Projection. They dedicated themselves to honing their craft and entered a local talent show, where they unexpectedly emerged as the winners. This victory provided the initial momentum for their musical journey.
Over the next two years, the lineup of X Projection underwent changes with different musicians joining and departing the band. In 1986, bass player Dave Rivers introduced Damon to guitarist Mark Sainsbury. This partnership expanded the band's creative horizons, and they were later joined by Billy Sainsbury on keyboards and Tony Smy on drums. Damon and Mark formed a powerful writing duo, contributing to the band's success.
X Projection's career flourished with recordings, tours, gigs, and notable performances on radio and TV. However, after three years of growing success, the band ultimately disbanded. Although occasional reunion gigs took place after 2000, X Projection ceased to actively perform.
During the years between 1990 and 2000, Damon continued his musical journey by playing with various bands, including participating in UK and international tours, such as performing for the Formula 1 circuit. Additionally, Damon focused on his songwriting and recording, both for himself and other artists.
In 2002, Damon entered the world of artist management and promotion, working with 19 Management and contributing to shows like "Pop Idol" and later with Syco for the launch of "The X Factor."
After years of managing and promoting other artists, Damon decided to revive X Projection with a new lineup. Recording an album yet to be released, but leading singles “So alone” and “Forty foot up”. As a side project Damon embarked on a new venture called Electric Deluxe, which explores a more electronic sound. Damon's forthcoming album, yet to be named, will feature this fresh musical direction.
Furthermore, in 2022, Damon launched his radio show, the Damon Summers 80s Evolution show, which quickly gained popularity and became the most-listened-to sync radio show.
Damon Summers' career has been characterized by his unwavering passion for music, his diverse musical experiences, and his continuous exploration of new creative avenues. With the revival of X Projection and his ventures into electronic sounds, Damon continues to evolve and leave his mark on the music industry.
